01The buildSeven decisions that make a Shyre ride like a Shyre.
Built for the rider, not shrunk from a grown-up bike.
Plenty of mountain bikes at this size come with rim brakes. The Eastie 26 has discs front and rear and a frame still built around a young rider. This is what that changes.

Stays on line over rough ground
The fork soaks up roots and stone.
Instead of bouncing the front wheel off line, the fork compresses, so they keep their speed and stay in control on rough ground.

Stops as well in the wet
Mechanical discs, front and rear.
The pads grip a steel rotor at the hub rather than the wet rim. It matters more at this size, because they are heavier and going faster.

Adult wheels, their frame
Shorter cranks, a 580mm bar and levers set for their hands.
Adult sized wheels on a frame they can control, with the reach and the levers set for a young rider rather than an adult.

Gears that make sense to a child
One click per change. No front mech to think about.
LTWOO A2 SL rear mech and a thumb shifter on the right, with enough range to get them up a climb sitting down.

Rims and tyres that take a knock
28-hole double-wall rims on 2.35in tyres.
Double-wall rims and a higher spoke count take repeated drops better than a lighter road wheel, and the wide tyre grips in mud without feeling slow on hard paths.

Saddle down, saddle up, no tools
Quick-release seatpost clamp.
Drop the saddle for a descent, raise it for the climb back. It takes seconds and no tools.

Built to be dropped
6061 aluminium frame, kickstand fitted.
Heavier than our hybrids because that is what a fork and discs weigh. Tough enough to be dropped, and covered by our lifetime frame warranty.
Every part had to earn its place.
We ride these ourselves, around Shrewsbury and in Hopton Woods. Nothing on the Shyre Eastie 26" Wheel Kids Mountain Bike is there because it looks good on a spec sheet.

Ten minutes with the tools in the box
Pedals on, bars straight, brakes checked. The tool kit is in the box and the videos are on the site. If you would rather talk it through, book a video call and we will do it with you. If you would rather not touch it, most bike shops will finish it for a few pounds.

05Straight answersThe questions parents ask us before they buy.
What parents ask about the Shyre Eastie 26" Wheel Kids Mountain Bike
Answered by the people who built it, not a help centre.
Is the Eastie 26 the right size for my child?
Riders roughly 10 to 13+ years old, 142 to 162cm tall, with an inside leg of about 67cm or more. Age starts the search, inside leg confirms the fit. If they will mostly ride roads and paths, the lighter Hopton 26 may suit them better.
How much do I have to build?
It arrives 90% built. You fit the pedals, straighten and tighten the bars, and check the brakes. A basic tool kit is in the box and there are assembly videos to follow. If you would rather someone talked you through it, book a video call and we will go through it with you.
Where should the saddle be?
For a new rider, set it so the balls of both feet reach the ground while seated. As confidence grows, raise it so the leg keeps a slight bend at the bottom of the pedal stroke. The post has a quick-release clamp and a scale line, so it takes seconds. Never raise it past the minimum insertion mark.
Can I bring the brake levers closer in?
The levers have a reach adjuster. Wind it in so the blade sits closer to the bar until they can get their fingers comfortably round it. Check both brakes engage fully before riding.
The disc brake is rubbing. What do I check?
Check the wheel is sitting straight in the dropouts and the axle is tight. Spin the wheel and look through the caliper. If the rotor touches one pad, loosen the two caliper bolts, squeeze the lever, retighten the bolts while holding it, and spin again. Keep oil and chain lube well away from the rotors and pads.
How often does it need looking at?
Before each ride, a quick check of tyre pressure, brakes and that nothing is loose. Keep the chain clean and lightly oiled, more often in winter. For a regular rider, a yearly safety check by a bike shop is worth it.
What pressure should the tyres be?
The range is printed on the tyre sidewall. Towards the lower end for grip on grass and gravel, towards the upper end for tarmac. Check them every couple of weeks, small wheels lose pressure faster than you would expect.
Is there a maximum rider weight?
The Eastie 26 is our largest size in the range, designed for riders up to the top of its height range. If your child is taller than that, contact us and we will advise on the best fit.
What do we do when they outgrow it?
Send us a photograph and we agree a value, up to 55% back, towards their next bike with Shyre Trade Up. The lifetime frame and fork warranty also transfers with the bike, so it holds its value if you pass it on or sell it.
What does the warranty actually cover?
Lifetime on the frame and fork. If either fails we replace the bike, not just the part. Everything else is covered for two years. The cover transfers to the next owner.
What if it is not right for them?
Yes. You have 90 days to change your mind under our happiness guarantee. Take your time deciding whether it fits and whether they get on with it.
Will you match a cheaper price?
Yes. If you find a comparable bike from another brand for less, send us the link and we will match it. It needs to be the same wheel size, with an alloy frame and equivalent brakes and gearing, new and in stock at a UK retailer.
Ridden by real families.
What parents told us after the first few weeks, in their own words.
We stay in the picture.
Set up help, a lifetime frame warranty, 90 days to change your mind and money back when they outgrow it. Buying from a small British brand should feel like that.

Frame and fork warranty for life
If either fails we replace the bike, not the part. Everything else is covered for two years, and the cover moves on with the bike.
Change your mind, no fuss
