Most first bikes are heavy steel or plastic. The Myndie was built light from the start, for toddlers finding their feet. This is what that changes.
Light enough to be theirs
They can pick it up, turn it round and carry it.
A bike a toddler cannot manage on their own is a bike they wait for you to fetch. The ones that get ridden are the ones they can handle themselves.
Alloy, not steel or plastic
Alloy frame and forks.
Most first bikes use steel or heavy plastic. Alloy is where the weight saving comes from, and it is light enough to lift into a boot with one hand.
One frame, two wheel sizes
Fit the bigger wheels as they grow.
One frame covers the whole span from first steps to their first pedal bike, rather than buying a second balance bike.
No pedals, no gears, no brakes
Feet do the stopping.
Keeping it simple keeps the focus on balance, so when pedals come along most children skip stabilisers altogether.

What parents ask about the Shyre Myndie 12" Wheel Balance Bike
Answered by the people who built it, not a help centre.
Is the Myndie the right size for my child?
Children roughly 18 months to 4 years old, 80 to 100cm tall, with an inside leg of 30cm or more. They should be able to sit on the saddle with both feet flat on the ground.
How much do I have to build?
It arrives almost fully built. You straighten and tighten the bars and set the saddle height. A basic tool kit is in the box and there are assembly videos to follow.
Where should the saddle be?
Set it so they can sit with both feet flat on the ground and a slight bend in the knee. Raise it a little as they grow. Never raise it past the minimum insertion mark.
How often does it need looking at?
Give it a quick check before each ride that nothing is loose, and wipe it down after muddy rides. There are no brakes, gears or chain to look after.
Do the tyres need pumping up?
No. The 12in tyres are puncture-proof, so they never go flat and never need pumping up.
When are they ready for a pedal bike?
When they are confident gliding with their feet up and steering round corners. Most children then go straight to the Hopton 16 without stabilisers.
What do we do when they outgrow it?
Send us a photograph and we agree a value, up to 55% back, towards their next bike with Shyre Trade Up. The lifetime frame and fork warranty also transfers with the bike, so it holds its value if you pass it on or sell it.
What does the warranty actually cover?
Lifetime on the frame and fork. If either fails we replace the bike, not just the part. Everything else is covered for two years. The cover transfers to the next owner.
What if it is not right for them?
Yes. You have 90 days to change your mind under our happiness guarantee. Take your time deciding whether it fits and whether they get on with it.
Will you match a cheaper price?
Yes. If you find a comparable bike from another brand for less, send us the link and we will match it. It needs to be the same wheel size, with an alloy frame and equivalent brakes and gearing, new and in stock at a UK retailer.
